You can easily check which version of the iPhone iOS Firmware is installed on your iPhone. Here's how...

1. Grab your iPhone.

2. Select the 'Settings' icon on your iPhone homescreen.

3. Select 'General'.

4. Select 'About'.

The current "Version" installed on your iPhone will be shown. If the firmware version shown on your iPhone is less than 5.0.1. I highly recommend that you upgrade it using the instructions here.
